PM Zoo Field Trip

I'm so thankful the weather decided to hold out and leave us with a wonderful day to visit the zoo! After a brief delay (one of our vans wouldn't start!), we were off to Sunset Zoo to learn all about animals. Miss Meridith, one of the zoo's staff, taught us about animals and the different movement they use and how it differs from how we were created. We looked at vulture feathers and hawk wings to learn about animals that fly, touched the smooth shell of a turtle and discussed flippers that help them swim, saw the tiny skull of a prairie dog and talked about their skilled digging, and pet a snow leopard pelt and learned about their big paws that give them speed and thick tails used for balance. Thanks for teaching us so much!

Crazy Day!

Here our class rocks St. Patrick's Day green and our crazy clothes to reward our good choices and filling our jar with cotton balls. To close out our crazy day we played "Everybody's It." In this game, you guessed it...everybody's it! The class ran around like crazy all tagging each other and crying, "You're it!" When this grew too tiring, we switched to "Duck, Duck, Goose," and finally went inside and ate ice cream sandwiches. Keep up the good work for another reward day!

Morning Rodeo Day

The first unit study of the month of April was Cowboys. So to celebrate this unit study the school hosted a fun rodeo for the families of UCC. There were tons of games, treats, and fun to be had by all the came. We sincerely hope you had as much fun as we had in planning the event. I want to say a special thank you to the families that helped with the event.

Morning Treat Day

One of the reward systems in our class is the cotton ball jar. If all of the students are able to stay on green all day, then the whole class earns a cotton ball for that day. After the students were able to collect 16 cotton balls, they received a treat. It just so happened that this treat day fell on St. Patrick's day. So we have some cute crazy green students in our class for the day!

Morning Insect Museum Visit

For our field trip in March we went to the K-State Insect Museum to go along with our unit on insects. We are still learning about insects in our classroom with the caterpillars that have recently gone into their cocoons to become beautiful butterflies. Ask your child all about it and I am sure they will love telling you every detail theyhave observed. Below are a few pictures of our K-State visit. Mrs. Jennifer was a little too chicken to touch much, but Mrs. Nanette came to the rescue with her willingness to pass around a few insects to touch. Thanks Mrs. Nanette!
