Review Week

This week focused on a review of our letters and concepts covered thus far into the school year. We played a lot of fun games, and made some neat crafts to correspond with our Scripture this week, "the B-I-B-L-E." Quiz your kids...they might remember the two parts of the Bible (Old and New Testament), the number of books in the Old Testament (39), the number of books in the New Testament (27), and how many all together (66). The video above is a song we sang all week naming all of the Bible books.

Activities from the week:
Lit Centers:
  • Read around the Room colors! Try to find the 11 color words placed throughout the room. Can you identify which words are which colors?
  • Listening: listen to "Llama Llama Misses Mama" and draw a picture of your favorite part of the story
  • ABC: differentiate D and B into a T column. Work on beginning word sounds
  • Word Work: match capital clothespins to lowercase letters to spell words
  • Give Me a...: Cut capital letters to spell your name, cheerleader style. Can you complete your first and last name?
Math Centers:
  • Number Sense: practice writing and dialing your phone number
  • Data Collection: sort Skittles and graph by color
  • Estimation: how many bears? Using 3 different sized jars, estimate how many bears. What is the difference between the jars? How does this affect your guess?
  • Shape Book: Practice drawing circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares, as well as learn some of their basic attributes
  • Games: Match clothespin numerals to the correct picture value. Can you put them in order 1-20?
Other Activities:
  • Books of the Bible bookmarks
  • Graph "Which Season do you Prefer: Winter or Spring?"
  • lace hearts to place Scriptures in
  • play "What time is it, Mr. Fox?" to practice one-to-one correspondence and counting skills
  • review letters learned, and form them with our friends :)
