We had a wonderful time celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus in class this week. We worked hard to integrate this focus into all of our activities while still enjoying the playful spring themes associated with the holiday. I hope your family enjoyed the celebration at home as well!
Math Centers:
- Fill in as many "missing eggs" as you can by using our number charts to figure out what comes before or after the numbers given
- Use counting bears to find the total of two numbers (ex: "What numbers do you see?" "7 and 2." "Let's count 7 bears and 2 bears. How many bears is that?") Color the egg based on the number found.
- Jelly bean graph
- Paint geometric egg shapes and review color mixing (red and yellow = orange, red and blue = purple, yellow and blue = green)
- Learn about an egg in a science experiement to see if it will sink or float, how much space it takes in a cup, what area of sqares it covers, and how much it weighs
Lit Centers:
- Find capital and lowercase matches on decorative spring cookie prints
- Travel the classroom to find farm animals; write the animal's name and the number of animals displayed.
- Match butterfly halves. One has a picture and the other its beginning blend (dr=drum)
- Color an egg based on the images of sight words you find
- Real or silly words? Work with Mrs. Marisha to discover the sounds letters make and sound out if something is a real or silly word
Additional Activities:
- Make Easter baskets
- 3 crosses on a hill craft
- Jesus is Risen! empty tomb craft
- Easter egg hunt
- read Hodge the Hedgehog, by Amy Sparkes
- read Birds Build Nests, by Yvonne Winer
- watched Rez, the Rock that Rolled
