1. Bears like to eat fish, honey, and berries. They do not eat people.
2. Bears are a lot of different colors, including white, brown, and black. Some have even seen reddish colored bears when visiting the zoo!
3. In the fall, bears begin to gather lots of food and eat to keep them full all winter long while they hibernate. This is different than us, because we still go to sleep then wake up every day during the winter.
4. Some bears live in the forest, like to climb trees, and sleep in caves.
5. Bears may look cute, but we should never try to touch one--just play with our teddy bears!
Learning centers from this week:
Math
1. Assess individual knowledge of days of the week, months of the year, seasons, and personal information.
2. Match pictures on pumpkins with numbers to create words that rhyme.
3. Roll two dice, then count the total. Remove a piece of candy from your paper and enjoy!
4. Cut out images and complete a pattern based on the story "Goldilocks and the Three Bears."
Lit
1. Assess individual ability to follow directions and complete sequencing stories.
2. Make a picture using objects beginning with the letter "Bb" for "bears."
3. Write a class book explaining what we are afraid of, but reminding us that God is with us and helps us to be brave.
4. Listen to a CD reading of "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?" and follow along in the book. Draw a picture from the story once you have finished listening.
Activities from this week:
1. Make a counting book by drawing the correct number of bears in the correct color written.
2. Share about our teddy bears and give each bear an award for being unique.
3. Glue pre-cut pieces to create a pumpkin teddy bear, displayed in our hallway.
4. Share about something from home relating to a theme from this month.
5. Let our turtles, Mr. P and Dreamer, crawl around our circle and allow each person to pet them.
A few of our songs from this week:
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear

Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the ground
Teddy bear, teddy bear, go upstairs
